Square body Chevy Truck restoration project,
Bought a used project truck 6 hour drive away. Towed home in Winter on a trailer. Not running, parts missing. Took a chance on it
Got it running, wrenched on with basic hand tools, deal with rust and seized parts
Step 1: Not running parts missing
Hood, fenders , rad missing
Bolt on parts missing, cables, hoses disconnected,
Towed home hoping it was going to run
Step 2: Start up test
Used Wd40 spray exhaust manifold bolts, fuel tank strap, clamps, carb linkage, hood cable , hinges
Removed spark plugs poured oil down cylinders ,turned over motor with wrench by hand, free , cleaned up parts put new tune up parts, spark plugs, hooked up cables ,
Turned over with key, fired up
But leaked gas
Step 3: New carburetor installed
Installed brand new carburetor
Performance aftermarket
Make cable brackets
Got it tuned nicely!
It’s alive and purrs
Step 4: Suspension work
Installed lowering kit
Replaced all springs, shackles, brackets.
Wd 40 sprayed in park brake cable
Went from seized to free movement
Kept original part on still till today
Help from my son ,cleaned and painted frame
Step 5: Paint work
Replaced all hardware, original bolts on good after spraying penetrating Wd40 was able to remove all by hand, replaced panels and painted
