Forgotten Treasures

30 years ago this month, I left my childhood home and moved into a new home. I took my old wooden jewelry box with me. I was born in the 70;s, raised in the 80;s and grew up sort of in the 90;s. That's a lot of different jewelry to collect. I had my first communion necklace from my grandmother from the 70s , lots of junky stuff, and neon bracelets from the 80s mixed up with a few good gold chains. Forgotten all in the box in semi storage. Renovating uncovered the box and lots of treasures and memories. The chains, however, were matted together; a brooch my grandmother gave me from her trip to Ireland in the 80s was stiff, resisting opening easily, and a gold chain from my 21st birthday clumped together in so many stuck together knots. almost like they melted together.

Step 1: I got out my new wd 40 precision pen and went to work.

a little precise amount, as much or little as i wanted on all the j jewelry. I delicately used the precision pen with the brooch. I took extra care as it was the brooch my grandmother wore, tying her Irish scarf around her shoulders as she kissed the Blarney Stone some 50 years ago. I also unstuck the clasp on a string of pearls i wore at my graduation picture. The chains were knotted but with the wd 40 and a needle it easily worked. The hinge on the back of the brooch was seized but it worked too! Now new to me again, as I realize the 80s was an amazing decade
