Precision Engine Detailing: A/C Refrigerant Line & Fitting Restoration
Plus 1 more
Maintaining a 2016 Mercedes-Benz C300 4Matic means going beyond the surface and protecting the intricate components deep within the engine bay. Over time, the aluminum A/C refrigerant lines and their delicate crimped hose fittings collect a thick layer of baked-on engine dust, grease, and mild oxidation. If ignored, this abrasive grime can mask potential micro-leaks or cause the metal fittings to deteriorate. The challenge was cleaning this raw aluminum and the metal crimps safely, without using harsh chemical degreasers that might dry out or degrade the attached rubber A/C hoses.
WD-40 Multi-Use Product was the perfect, safe solution for this precision detailing. By applying it directly to a microfiber cloth rather than spraying it blindly into the engine bay, I carefully worked the formula over the curved aluminum line and the crimped connector. The solvent easily broke down the bonded grime and light oxidation, while its lubricating properties allowed the dirt to wipe away without scratching the metal.
The process restored a bright, factory-fresh shine to the aluminum and left behind a light, moisture-displacing barrier to repel future dust and protect these critical A/C components from corrosion.
