Restoring Seized Crimpers to Smooth Operation Using WD-40
The crimpers had become stiff and difficult to operate due to buildup in the pivot joint, making them hard to use effectively.
I documented the repair process by first demonstrating how restricted the movement was before beginning. The handles were difficult to open and close, showing clear signs of seizing.
WD-40 was applied directly to the pivot and moving parts to help penetrate and break down the buildup. After allowing it to sit briefly, the crimpers were worked back and forth to distribute the product and gradually restore movement.
Additional light applications were used as needed to fully loosen the mechanism. Once the movement improved, any excess residue was wiped away to clean the tool.
Following this process, the crimpers loosened significantly and now open and close freely, restoring their functionality and ease of use.
