The Hinge I Almost Tossed
I was seconds away from throwing this hinge in the trash and driving to the store for a replacement. It was buried under years of thick, "impossible" kitchen grime that made it look like a piece of junk. As a last resort, I grabbed my can of WD-40 to see if I could save it.
The Process:
I gave the hinge one heavy spray and let it sit for just 30 seconds.
The Result:
When I wiped it with a cloth, the grease didn't just smudge—it completely dissolved. The transformation was immediate. As you can see in my "AFTER" photo, the original metal luster is back, but it still has the real-life "pitting" and character that proves it’s a successful restoration, not a brand-new part.
Why it’s a win:
This simple fix saved me money, a trip to the hardware store, and kept perfectly good hardware out of the landfill. It’s the ultimate proof that you shouldn't replace it until you’ve tried to revive it!
