1983 Honda ATC 70

I bought a 1983 Honda ATC 70 in parts and pieces from a seller on Kijiji. The bike didn’t run at the time and needed a full rebuild to make it right again

Step 1

Took stock of what was good and could be re-used, made a list of what parts were missing and had to be bought or found locally.

Step 2

Using WD-40 to assist with getting most of the bolts out and also using WD-40 as a cleaner with some elbow grease and fine steel wool really helped bring the life back to the engine, hardware and chrome. WD-40 worked great to help remove the old piston and jug from the original engine, sadly the engine needed a new valve as it was put together incorrectly and the intake valve hit the piston and bent the stem.

Step 3

Once all the parts were prepped I sanded, primed and painted all the parts back to the original colours.

Step 4

Once the paint was dry and the decals were in place I reassembled the bike with as many original parts as possible including the original hardware fresh from its WD-40 bath and polish.
