Repairing Sticky Outdoor Windows that face the ocean.
This project involves my windows that face the ocean that are prone to saltwater erosion and sea air takes a toll on them especially over time. The windows would get sticky, not open smoothly, squealy noises that sometimes I just wouldnt open to let fresh air in come Spring unless they get rfepaired.. Now there is nothing better than fresh salt water air from the ocean and I would love to ventilate the house easier.The little hassle of well worn outside mechanisims over the winter showed the rusty damage over the winter.
Step 1
1. I sprayed WD-40 onto the small hinges and moving parts of the window to allow for free smooth opening. 2. I let it penetrate for a few minutes and then did the patio doors, the runners and handles. 3. I gently moved the openers and closures and window could open smoother n quicker not sticky and squeaky.
Step 2
I will have my windows opened more frequently now thanks to WD-40 to help improve my fresh air, condition my house on a warm day and smell my blossoming roses. My windows opening are pure enjoyment..my windows opening smoothly too. Not only did WD-40 help with the corrosion from saltwater it also helped with the debris and grime in the window tracks and opening hinges, sticky locks and the latches. I hoped this repaire showed something different other than the use for cars, trucks, bikes, etc, and that this showed the versatility of Wd-40 in a coastal environment with constant ocean exposure. This day also I fixed a seized beach chair and beach umbrella from sand and salt build up. My submission hopefully stands out just how consistent a product can be for different repairs at different times of year for so many different things. I bet a lot of people might not know especially coastal residents just how productive WD-40 is for repair from the elents of living along coastal areas.
