Telefunken Fix Up

An old 1970s Telefunken turntable was having issues functioning properly. There are a lot of moving parts and complex track and trigger mechanisms underneath that were not sliding and switching properly, causing the whole turntable to stall out when the different functions tried to engage. By using some WD-40 and cotton swab sticks, I was able to clean out all of the old gunk and grime, and then using WD-40 Specialist Silicone and more cotton swab sticks, I added lubrication to all of the tracks and moving parts. What I was unable to show in the video, was using WD-40 to penetrate down along the Start/Stop lever mechanism. That lever would not change positions on its own when it was supposed to, and needed to be forced by hand during any function. After the WD-40 application, it now toggles itself where it needs to be during operation again. Now, the lever works, and all of the components hidden underneath the turntable work smoothly again, and the records can spin at normal speed. So my 50 year old Telefunken is working fine again. Thank you WD-40. There is a reason that everyone has a can in their house, garage, and sometimes trunk of the car (farmers and mechanics have even more places to keep extra cans).
